Celebrities Speak Out Against Boycotts

Over 200 Notable Names Sign Letter of Support

Critically acclaimed actor and singer Billy Porter has joined a growing chorus of celebrities speaking out in favor of Israel's LGBTQ film festival. Porter, a two-time Tony winner, reportedly called a top Biden aide to express concerns about the president's support for a boycott of the festival. Alongside Porter, Mila Kunis and Sharon Osbourne have also defended the event from criticism. The celebrities signed an open letter alongside over 200 other notable individuals, including actors Neil Patrick Harris and director Ziggy Marley. The letter condemns the boycott as "an attack on LGBTQ people everywhere." The Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival is scheduled to take place in June. However, several artists and activists have called for a boycott of the festival in protest of Israel's treatment of Palestinians.
